About
On a miserable day in June about two years ago, a young 15 year old named Carole Irene was crying in the girls’ bathroom. It was the last day she would ever see her favorite teacher, because he was going to retire. However, her favorite teacher made sure he would not move on without leaving something to remember him by…so he gave Carole Irene and all the other students a list of his favorite books and films, books and films that he believed would give them indespensable life lessons. Boy, was he RIGHT about that!
About a month later, Carole Irene and her sister, Jean, made a trip to Barnes and Noble, list in hand. Of course, a fifteen year old and a thirteen year old only have SO much money, so they could only get a few of the books on the list. One of the books the sisters so wisely chose was Gone with the Wind.
Carole Irene read Gone with the Wind quickly and breathlessly that summer, reading hundreds of pages a day, and describing it all to Jean. When Carole Irene read the last page in the dead of an August night, she was in love. In love with a story that would end up dragging her into the world of classic movies…
Carole Irene knew that Gone with the Wind was made into a film. However, she didn’t know much besides a few famous quotes and that it starred an actress named Vivien Leigh. So the two obsessed sisters, while waiting for the film to air on TV, scoured the Internet and tons of books for information on the film, and absorbed it all like dry sponges. All of it just made them want to see the film even more!
In the midst of the search, Carole Irene took a break to read the Sunday paper. She turned to the TV listings, hoping to see Gone with the Wind, instead saw a black and white picture that caught her attention.
“Hey Jean!” she yelled “It’s the dude who acted as Rhett in Gone with the Wind! Why don’t we watch this film when it comes on TV? It’ll help us learn more about this guy.”
So sometime later that week, at 8 PM on TCM, the sisters tuned in to watch It Happened One Night. That night, Carole Irene fell in love again—this time with Clark Gable and the world that this film opened for her!
Little did Carole Irene know that this was the missing link to her life…the classic films she was slightly introduced to as a baby. They filled up the void, and made Carole and Jean happier, more wiser, more knowledgeable young ladies.
So it all started like an avalanche from there, and here we are: older, wiser, and a heck of a lot cooler!

About Carole Irene: A vintage-loving teenager forced to live in the modern world and trying to make the best of it! Prepare to hear a lot from this artist wannabe, who is OBSESSED, I mean OBSESSED about anything classic Hollywood…and who dreams about walking along the beach with Clark Gable.
Here’s a little about me, Baby Jean… I’m a cheerful young teenager who loves to watch classic movies. I’m a very silly girl who likes to crack jokes.

It’s young classic film fans such as you who give me hope for the future.
I’m glad you’ve become fans of people like Clark Gabie, William Powell and the woman both were once married to, Carole Lombard. You’re also getting to know so many others: Jean Harlow…Spencer Tracy…Myrna Loy…James Stewart…Barbara Stanwyck…Gary Cooper…Claudette Colbert…Fred MacMurray…Jean Arthur…James Cagney…Joan Blondell…Edward G. Robinson…Constance Bennett…Cary Grant…Ginger Rogers…Fred Astaire…and the list goes on and on.
I cordially invite you to visit my classic Hollywood site, “Carole & Co.” (http://community.livejournal.com/carole_and_co), where we celebrate the actors, directors and writers who made these films — and the time — so special.

Vincent, the future outlook on classic movies frightens me too. if no one in my generation knows about them, who will keep them alive? You can count on me to do whatever it takes–I’m not that easy to ignore!
On a lighter note, I have visited your website several times in the past, and have made it part of my regular favorites! It’s wonderful, informative, and full of love. Carole would’ve been happy to know that she is still strongly appreciated today.

I dream of walking on the beach with Clark Gable too… *sigh*
And I’m also crazily obsessed with Gone With The Wind. Its kind of scary, haha. And I’m 14.. read the book when I was 13.. at the very end, you know how in all books they have 1 or 2 blank pages at the end? Well, after Scarlett’s final “tomorrow is another day!” I was flipping those blank pages, looking for another sentence.. paragraph.. chapter.. anything. It took some pretty hardcore strength to not break down in sobs the next day at school, haha. I was in depression for like a week. And I like wouldn’t eat! The things Margaret Mitchell does to people… btw, please check out my GWTW website.. gwtwfansite.weebly.com. Thanks.

There is hope in the world! Its wonderful that you are exposing the new generation to these great films. Keep up the good work. My mother-in-law was an incredible actress and a beauty, check out Loretta Young. She was in Call of The Wild and Key to the City with your man – Clark Gable. And, well – there’s more to that story! Here is a link to a video of her if you’d like to see her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvHVrHULGIU&feature=youtu.be

You definitely have made my day with your marvellous blog. Knowing that there’s someone somwhere, who have crush on Gary Cooper is very heart warming. I have great friends, but unfortunately none of them shares a passion for classic movies with me. I am 21 and I know that it may seem awkward to them, but who cares
I study sociology and I plan to write my academic dissertation about classic cinema, hope it would help me get my bachelor’s degree
Thank you for your great blog, forgive any mistaktes in my wrtiting and cheers from Poland !

Thank you so much for the lovely comments
It makes my day to know that I’ve made someone feel good! It’s ok if your friends don’t understand your passion, what matters is that it makes you happy! And you never know, maybe they will become interested too
It’s great that you’re writing your dissertation on classic cinema! When I’m a senior in two years (I’m 19) I’ll most likely do the same
All my love!
